Kanthanpara Waterfalls and our Last Day at Wayanad
Our 2nd day at Wayanad ended with farewell to one our friend heading back to Bengaluru. And the simple dinner instead where I was planning to try some Kerala meals which I didn’t find anywhere. We slept for more than 10hours that night as we were tired alot exploring around Wayanad. Lets start the last article about Kanthanpara Waterfalls and our Last Day at Wayanad.
Bad Start of the Day
It was our last day so we set the alarm which would wake us the soonest possible in the morning. We were awake, I think after it rang for the 10th time, so we hurried as we had to visit the Neelimala View Point before leaving Kerala. Knowing that the viewpoint and the Chembra Peak are a must visit place when you come to Wayanad. After our local bus journey to Vaduvanchal plus 2Kms walk to the point where you need to collect the tickets.
The Good and The Bad News
Two things happened a good plus bad news the good news or moment was that we got to walk around this foggy clouds path which covered us all. Which was really beautiful with houses and churches on our road which appeared like an visual effect in front of our eyes when we reached closer to them. The Bad plus Sad news was that We got to know that the place was not allowed for people to visit due to forest fire and other reasons. We even called up the forest department if it was all correct and also enquired that the Chembra Peak was open. But another disappointing start of the day as both the places were strictly closed. And that you need to have local guides to take you to both the places and no one can go on there own.
Never Loose Hope When You are Somewhere New
We thought if we should have left with our friend back to Bengaluru as it was a Monday and after the news we got we had nowhere to go. Instead of waiting for the bus, which would take us back. We enquired that if we could visit somewhere near Vaduvanchal on that day. And a guy told us that we should head towards the Kanthanpara Waterfalls which was really near or towards this Horse riding or Golf Course crossing the Tamil Nadu border.
Towards the Kanthanpara Waterfall
But we were excited about the waterfall so we took the Rickshaw and headed towards the market to get some extra clothes. For if we get a chance to get into the water for a swim. We were back at the Vaduvanchal market and got ourselves some shorts and immediately headed towards the waterfall. You cross this beautiful coffee plantation with some foreigners hiking towards the waterfall. We took our tickets and the guy there didn’t charge us for the cameras. Which was really generous of him I think because it was monday and not many people were visiting the place.
Entering the Gates of the Kanthanpara Waterfall
We were able to see some people entering the gates to the waterfall. We had to cross this small bamboo forest too to reach the waterfall crossing which we heard the welcoming sound of the falls. Which got us really excited so we rushed towards the place. The fall is located near Meppadi home to the best waterfalls in Kerala. With Meenmutti and Soochipara falls, there are many such waterfalls around the place. And the Kanthanpara waterfall is really a tiny one compared to the other two.
Though tiny amongst the others, it was a treat with the beautiful surroundings. We saw some people crossing the waterfall towards the rocks which would lead you into the forest. And some friends having fun in the pool created by the waterfall itself. The water was collected between these rocks with not much depth for you to get drowned. Without wasting much time we changed into our shorts and jumped into the pool. We forgot almost everything that we had missed on our trip and how we reached this fall, which was not even on our list we made to visit. It’s really awesome to luckily discover such places you won’t find on the internet.
The Swim With the View
I don’t think you can get a better view from any pool in the costliest and cosiest hotels you would ever stay. It was crazy with the water falling on our heads at such speeds and the forest in front of us. Half of which on top was still filled with fog even in the afternoon. Some people left the place after having a look at the falls, but the 5 of us stayed for almost an hour or more. Having the most relaxed time of our day the other guys told us how they went to Mysore and headed towards Wayanad as they didn’t find much to do there. As they were also looking for some adventure on their long weekend. After spending some time there we were hungry and thought to head back to Vaduvanchal for some food.
Clothes got exchanged in the Local Bus
After our lunch we got into the bus back to Sultan Bathery Market. Something funny happened as my friend had this bag he was carrying I asked when he took and where our bag was. Containing our clothes and the moment we realised that the bags were exchanged in the bus as we kept it with other bags. We laughed for some time and rushed towards the bus stand for a chance if we could catch the bus. But we didn’t get the bus and had to come back to our hotel to pack our stuff. For the journey back to Bengaluru.
So that was our 3 day journey at Wayanad, Kerala. Don’t forget to read all the articles and check my vlogs on my Youtube channel. Running a little late with my blogs but hope to write all soon so both of them continue together.
